The Client: FLIR Systems, with corporate headquarters in Portland Oregon, is an international leader in thermal imaging technology with a global presence and client base.


The Challenge: A competitor appeared to have an ‘inside track’ to USCG sensor sales. Our Firm found this unusual, since FLIR’s offering had beat the competing products in two recent U.S. Navy competitions.

Solution: A combined team from FLIR and Corcoran Associates visited the USCG Competition Advocate and notified the office that any further non-competitive action was unacceptable. Our Firm passed the same message to senior USCG staff Officers, Admirals, and the Congressional Affairs team. FLIR leadership joined our Firm and together the team made regular USCG HQ visits and demonstrations were arranged at key USCG operating facilities; air, sea, and boats.

Benefits: Our Client has placed 40+ Maritime FLIRs for major USCG Cutters, 10 units to equip the USCG’s new armed A-109 HITRON helicopters, and aftermarket support to outfit the cutter fleet. Most recently, FLIR’s Star Safire III and SeaFLIR models were selected for the USCG Deepwater aviation and surface fleet modernization program with an initial order of 150 systems.
